Thank you for the clarification. What i remember about Amplify and Wireless Generation was not positive so I am very glad to read what is actually going on now. I have always valued your opinion. Betty Peters, former AL State School Board member.

Robert, good to see you may be waking up to the reality that your so called friends you have aligned with are actually not conservative but radical ideologues.

The friends I'm aligned with are those who favor rich and rigorous instruction, and high standards for academics and student behavior, and "equity" in the best and truest sense: ensuring that every child has access to an education that enables them to take maximum advantage of their God-given talents and ambitions. Those friends come from the left and the right and include many whose political views I do not know and see no need to question or even be curious about. None of those friends are perfect but they are valuable, each and every one.

I'm all for good curriculum and rigorous instruction so we can be friends on that. I also like high standards but suspect we define those a little differently. What I find a bit strange is the verb tense of the title of your column. Present imperative - if my middle school grammar memory is correct. Do you really think that the DEI fight is not a witch hunt already (or has been for some time)? Seems like you are coming to this realization a bit late. Kind of like Elon Musk realizing just today that his emperor wears no clothes.

Having been the object of witch hunts, you're not going to get very far pursuing this line of reasoning with me. Speaking as someone who has taught exclusively in urban, high-poverty schools, the DEI push of the last decade has been, without question, a net-negative for the students and families I care about.

Over and out.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention!

Wow! What a testament to the topsy-turvy times we live in. Having just completed a fifth year of "performative DEI initiatives that prioritize identity talk over academic competence," I would gladly exchange all of this for working with Amplify to make real change in the classroom. Is it just me, or does this language asking for 'renouncement' take us back to Thomas Becket and Galileo? This piece is chilling! Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention.

"it seems like the perfect moment for them to separate themselves by renouncing the public commitments they made to DEI on social media, in their materials and on their website. If they make such a statement, we will gladly add it to the report."
